Young Farmer of the Year Contest
In October 2003, The National Bank became the principal sponsor of the Young
Farmer Contest. This support for the rural community shows the Bank's commitment
to developing New Zealand's future farm and agribusiness leaders.
The contest opens with regional events held weekly from December to May. The
winners of regional finals compete for the ultimate title of Young Farmer of the
Year at the Grand Final in July where they face technical, practical and
on-screen challenges.
R-L, 2008 winner David Skiffington, GM Rural Banking Charlie Graham, and Mrs
Skiffington.
The National Bank Young Farmer Contest forms a major part of our rural
sponsorship calendar. It provides a platform for New Zealand's young farmers to
develop life skills in an environment that encourages participation, personal
development and excellence - values that are consistent with those of The
National Bank.
