Before you can apply for a Visa Debit Card you need to have a National Bank everyday or savings account to link it to.
For National Bank Customers
- If you have a Cashpoint Card, apply now.
- If you’re a National Bank customer and you don’t already have a Cashpoint Card or everyday or savings account, you can apply by calling 0800 960 960.
If you’re new to The National Bank
- Apply now for a new account and Visa Debit Card, or visit any branch of The National Bank.

With a Visa Debit Card you can make purchases online, over the phone and in stores using funds from your everyday or savings accounts.
- Use it the same way you use your Cashpoint Card by selecting CHQ or SAV at ATMs or EFTPOS terminals in New Zealand
- $10 fee per year (or free with a National Bank Freedom Account)
- Card has a chip to keep your card details more secure
- Personalise your card for free with a MyPhoto Card
- Access to Visa Entertainment
- 24 hour, 365 day access to your account through ATMs and EFTPOS terminals in New Zealand and overseas.
