Tertiary Plus is designed specifically for students studying full or part-time at a recognised New Zealand tertiary institution, with a minimum duration of at least one year.
With the Tertiary Plus Package you can get:

- An interest-free overdraft of up to $1000 in your first year of study, and up to $2000 in subsequent years for unexpected costs and emergency expenses
- A personal loan of up to $5,000 with a discounted interest rate to cover the costs of a car, PC or other things you may need as a student
- A Thoroughbred or Visa Classic credit card, with no annual account fee ($500 limit applies) for those emergency purchases
- Affordable contents and car insurance with Base Protect insurance so youre protected if the unexpected occurs.

Total borrowing under the Tertiary Plus Package must not exceed $5,000. Visa Debit is free for the first 12 months then has a fee of $10 p.a. You have up to 5 years to repay the personal loan and dont need to provide any security.

An interest-free overdraft
For unexpected costs and emergency expenses an interest-free overdraft could be your best solution. You can apply for up
to $1,000 in your first year of study, and up to $2,000 in subsequent years.
A $5,000 loan
To cover the costs of a car, a PC or other things you may need as a student, you can apply for a loan of up to
$5,000. You can take up to 5 years to repay the loan and you dont need to provide any security. Loan
protection insurance is highly recommended and may be required by the Bank in some instances. Apply online by completing and submitting a Loan Application.
A Credit card with no annual account fee
With the Tertiary Plus Package you can apply for a
Thoroughbred Card
or Visa Classic
credit card with no annual account fee to pay ($500 limit applies).
Base Protect contents and car insurance
Think how disastrous it could be if someone stole your computer, your bike, clothes or stereo. Contents
insurance is what you need, but many insurers dont like offering it when youre flatting. Base Protect
solves all that. It makes it easy to get your personal belongings insured - at affordable rates. We also offer car insurance
at an affordable price. You can choose
to pay for your insurance annually or spread the cost by paying monthly or fortnightly.

You will need to provide:
- Some form of identification with a photo or two non-photographic forms of ID (e.g. driver's licence, passport or student ID card)
- IRD number
- Evidence of enrolment at your chosen tertiary institution (e.g. pre-enrolment, fees receipt or letter of acceptance)
- Previous bank statements if you have an account with another bank (i.e. bank statements for the last three months)
- Confirmation of your student loan entitlement, or Student Allowance, or proof of other income (e.g. pay slip for part-time work)
- Verification of address (e.g. utility bill, previous bank statement).
